RUMSON – The Rumson Garden Club will host a Post-Sandy panel discussion at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, on “Changing Landscapes” at the Rumson Country Club.
Experts from the American Littoral Society in Sandy Hook will offer strategies to incorporate restoration of the coastal environment and natural defenses into rebuilding post-Super Storm Sandy. That will include information about the importance of and benefits from restoring the natural landscape outside our homes and along the coast.
Attendees will find out what has been done and where we are headed in the future.
The featured experts include:

  • Tim Dillingham, American Littoral Society executive director, who will discuss the importance of natural defenses such as dune and marsh systems to the protection of our communities.
  • Helen Henderson, Atlantic Coast Program manager, who will explain “Bayscaping” – a program that empowers people to use native plants.
  • Judy DeFiglio, horticulturist at Garden Guidance, who will answer questions and give expert advice about coastal native plants.

Space is limited. Those attending are asked to RSVP by contacting Jeanne Shanley at jeanneshanley@hotmail.com.
