11/20 – Monmouth County Court to Observe Adoption Day Friday

FREEHOLD – In celebration of National Adoption Day, the Monmouth Vicinage will hold a program at 1:45 p,m. on Friday, Nov. 22, in the Jury Assembly Room in the lower level of the west wing of the Monmouth County Courthouse, 71 Monument Park.
Adoptions will be finalized for approximately 25 children. Some of the adoptions are arranged through the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).
Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson said, “The Monmouth Vicinage Adoption Day program provides an opportunity to join together with the community to promote permanency for children,” Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson said. “As we honor adoptive families, we hope the program will also encourage others to transform the life of a child through adoption.”
Lawson will give remarks at the program. Ashley Chiappano, an adoptive parent who serves as a family advocate at Foster and Adoptive Family Services, also will speak.
Information about the adoption process will be available. Attendees also will be able to speak with staff from the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office and DCP&P about adopting children in foster care. If interested in becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent, call 1-877-NJFOSTER.
