The Middletown and Red Bank police have charged an Atlantic Highlands man with a series of auto break-ins and a home burglary.
Colin McHarg, 20, Powell Avenue, was charged Tuesday with burglary and theft for allegedly entering vehicles parked in the Maguires Grove and Knollwood Gardens apartment complexes in Middletown earlier this month and taking unspecified personal property from the vehicles, according to criminal complaints police submitted to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Freehold.
Red Bank Police alleged in its complaint that McHarg broke into a Mechanic Street residence on Nov. 7 and stole a painting valued at more than $300.
For the Middletown charges, Municipal Court Judge Richard Thompson set McHarg’s bail at $15,000, without the option to post a 10 percent bond. Red Bank Municipal Court Judge William Himelman set bail for McHarg at $11,000, without the 10 percent option as well.
