FREEHOLD — An Ocean County man who conducted business as an unregistered home improvement contractor in Monmouth County following Super Storm Sandy, was sentenced on Friday to one year probation.
Superior Court Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen handed down the sentence to Victor McGookin for his last Nov. 21 guilty plea to one count of fourth degree failure to register with the state’s Division of Consumer Affairs, according to Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
McGookin had transacted business as a contractor in Highlands and Belmar, in April and May 2013, without having registered as required under state law.
The case was prosecuted by the prosecutor’s office’s Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Bureau working in conjuncture with the office’s Super Storm Sandy Task Force.
