RED BANK – The borough Planning Board is expected to continue hearing the controversial Walgreens pharmacy application at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in the municipal complex, 90 Monmouth St.
Mark Development, Inc., has been seeking board approval to construct the 14,200 square-foot pharmacy with a drive-thru window at 375 Broad St., the site of the former Rassas auto dealership.
The board held a number of lengthy hearings on the application last year, as the developer and his professionals offered its evidence of the project’s benefits.
Area residents, however, have continued to express objections to the plan. They have expressed fear that a busy retail operation would negatively impact their quality of life and property values for the their homes, located in the residential neighborhood bordering Red Bank and Little Silver, behind the Broad Street business site.
