1/24 –Middletown Man Accused of Stealing Gas, Electrical Service

MIDDLETOWN – A Port Monmouth man was arrested this week for allegedly stealing natural gas and electrical services from the utilities.
Police arrested Michael D. Finnegan, 26, of Park Avenue on Thursday, charging him with theft of services for the alleged unauthorized use of the utility services and for the theft of a NJ Natural Gas meter, according to a criminal complaint township police filed with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Freehold.
According to the complaint, Finnegan used extension cords to obtain electric from a neighboring property, with the services valued in excess of $500. The gas meter, valued at $200, allegedly allowed Finnegan to accumulate more than $1,000 in natural gas services, police charged.
Finnegan’s bail was set at $7,500 without the option to post a 10 percent bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 10.
