EATONTOWN – The New Jersey Friends of Clearwater will host a memorial gathering on Saturday to honor the late musical legend and social activist Pete Seeger.
The event will be held at the Eatontown Community Center, 72 Broad St., starting at noon and will be held instead of the environmental organization’s monthly membership and environmental committee meeting, according to Ed Dlugosz, president of NJ Friends of Clearwater.
The memorial will feature a screening of the documentary film “Pete Seeger: The Power of Song,” starting at 12:30 p.m. Following the film, there will be an opportunity for participants to offer their own personal recollections of Seeger, who died on Monday at age 94. That will be followed by the monthly “Circle of Song,” this month featuring the folk/acoustic group Circle Round The Sun and with the participation of attendees who are encouraged to join in, according to Dlugosz.
The organization is asking for a donation of $3 to $7.
