RED BANK – The State Police Marine Unit is continuing its investigation of a fire that destroyed a boat on the Navesink River off of the borough early Wednesday.
A 30-foot boat, situated in the icy river, was “burnt to the waterline,” by a fire reported at approximately 1:30 a.m., Wednesday, according to NJ State Trooper Alina Spies.
“There was nothing of evidentiary valued found at the scene,” due to the extent of the damage from the fire, Spies said.
The marine unit and Red Bank Fire Department responded and were on the scene. However, there were no witnesses. No one was on board at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, she said.
The investigation is continuing, according to Spies.
The owner, a borough resident, will be responsible for removing the remnants of the boat. “Right now with the icy conditions its not sure when that will be,” Spies said today.
