FREEHOLD – A Monmouth County grand jury handed up an indictment against a Hazlet man for the murder of a Middletown woman whose home also was set on fire.
The grand jury indicted Darryl Petlock, 36, of Locust Grove, on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated arson, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, according to the indictment made available by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to a press statement released by the prosecutor’s office in September 2012, the time of the incident, authorities found Lynn A. Moretti, 40, dead in her Jersey Avenue home after extinguishing a fire that destroyed the structure.
Authorities found that Petlock was under arrest and being held on an unrelated charge in Brunswick, Ga., and was extradited to New Jersey, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said at the time.
