RED BANK – Navesink River Rowing (NRR) is hosting National Learn to Row Day, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at its site at the end of Maple Avenue.
The free, hands-on introduction to rowing is open to all.
Rowers of all ages will be available to show the NRR’s facilities and equipment, demonstrate rowing basics on land, give mini-lessons on the water, answer questions and explain educational, recreational and competitive opportunities available locally for youth (14-18) or adults (18 to 80-plus).
Navesink River Rowing is one of 75 independent rowing organizations in 27 states that are opening their doors to the public on National Learn to Row Day, an annual event sponsored by U.S. Rowing, the sport’s national governing body, and Concept 2, makers of indoor rowing machines.
“National Learn to Row Day is a wonderful opportunity to see firsthand what rowing is all about,” said NRR board president, Kay Vilardi. “It’s a great low-impact sport for all ages and all abilities.”
