40th Monmouth County Fair Slated for July 23-27

FREEHOLD – Summer is around the corner and so is its best tradition, the Monmouth County Fair.
Held at East Freehold Showgrounds, Kozloski Road, Freehold, the fair runs from 5 to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, July 23-26, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27.
Helen Fiore, 2014 fair chairwoman, is promising a memorable event. “This is an especially exciting year as we celebrate the 40th Annual Monmouth County Fair. Every year we add something new so that the fair is enjoyable for visitors who come back every year,” she said. “It has become such a wonderful tradition for area families…something kids look forward to each summer. I look forward to visitors having a great time at the fair this year…I know I will!”
Highlights include acts such as Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean, Hilby the Skinny German Boy and the ShenaniGuns! Comedy Wild West Show. Once again, fairgoers will enjoy fireworks, pie-eating contests, pig races, a home and garden competition, a produce stand from the Future Farmers of America and 4-H displays and performances.
The fair also will feature live music, rides and games. Main stage entertainment will include performances by Motor City on Wednesday night, The Amish Outlaws on Thursday night, The Nerds on Friday night, Johnny Drama on Saturday night and Soul Cruisers on Sunday.
This year’s fair will once again offer rides for all ages. Rides wristbands will be available for $20 per person on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The wristbands will allow fairgoers to enjoy unlimited rides during their session. Tickets for the rides will be available daily.
General admission is $8 per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free at all times.
