RED BANK – Borough officials are giving potential buyers of the White Street former firehouse another – less expensive –bite at the apple.
Officials have scheduled another auction for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the municipal complex, 90 Monmouth St., with the minimum bid price at $400,000 for the structure and property.
Officials attempted to conduct an auction for the site on March 25. However, with a starting price of $450,000, they did not receive an offers.
Borough officials will have a pre-auction/bid inspection of the property, required of all bidders, at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at 40 White St. firehouse, according to the public notice announcing the proposed auction.
The 2,777 square-foot structure was built in 1910 and sits on a 0.0918 acre of property. It was home to the borough’s Liberty Hose fire company. The aging structure requires considerable work, officials have acknowledged previously, including roof work, new windows and mold remediation, among the items on the to-do list to make the structure useable.
Liberty Hose and its equipment relocated to the borough’s first aid building, 151 Spring St.
