LITTLE SILVER – The Red Bank Regional High School community is mourning the loss of a student who died Monday night.
“RBR is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of one our students, sophomore Grace Giffen. Our hearts go out to Grace’s family,” said James Stefankiewicz, the district superintendent, in a statement emailed to parents today.
Giffen,16, was a student in the school’s Visual and Performing Arts program, according to Marianne Kligman, the school’s community information officer.
“We have no specific information regarding the student’s death at this time,” Stefankiewicz said in the statement.
“Of paramount concern is the well being of our students and staff during this difficult time,” Stefankiewicz said, noting that counselors were available for students and staff as they attempt to cope with the loss.
Last year, two of the regional high school’s students, Albert Martin and Riyadhna Farrow, died from natural causes.
