HOLMDEL — Excited families filled the Holmdel Park parking lot to greet 31 New York City children as they arrived by bus to spend one or two weeks with volunteer host families in this area. The Fresh Air Fund Central New Jersey Committee coordinates the host families who invite children, ages six to 18, to leave the city streets behind and enjoy a week or two of summer in Monmouth County.
The Fresh Air Fund is an independent, not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer experiences to New York City children from low-income communities since 1877.
