7/12 – National Park Service to Present It’s Vision for Ft. Hancock at Friday Meeting

FORT HANCOCK – The National Park Service’s Gateway National Recreation Area division is expected to present its own proposal for the possible future development of Fort Hancock, when the fort’s 21st Century Advisory Committee meets again on Friday.
The advisory committee is scheduled to meet beginning at 9 a.m.  July 18, at Twin Lights Historic Site, 2 Lighthouse Road, Highlands. Gateway representatives will offer their proposal for the phased development of the historic former military installation at Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook.
The public will have an opportunity to comment during the hearing. The public comment period is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., with those wishing to speak called in the order they signed up prior to the comment period.

The National Park Service established the 21st Century Advisory Committee to look at options and draft a plan to restore and use the aging and deteriorating structures at Fort Hancock, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
