7/19– Annual Highlands Singers Concert Sunday at AH Harbor

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The Highlands Community Singers will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the gazebo in the municipal yacht harbor.
The performance, an annual affair, is part of the borough’s Sunday night summer concert series and is open to the public.
Featured among the old-time, sing-along and patriotic songs will be the group’s signature pieces, “Happy As a Clam” and “No Sad Songs,” both composed by the group’s late founder, Art Freilinghaus.
Also featured will be veteran musical theater performer Rick Makin, who will sing “This Nearly Was Mine” from “South Pacific.”
The Highlands Community Singers is composed of area residents who also perform at area nursing homes and senior day-care centers.
The performance will be directed by Louise Donoghue of Atlantic Highlands. The accompaniment will be by Thomas Elliott, longtime musical director at Henry Hudson Regional School.
Following Sunday’s concert, the group’s next public performance will be at noon, Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Highlands Clam Fest.
