FREEHOLD –The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders is inviting residents to be a part of the Comprehensive Master Plan initiative by attending one or more of the working group sessions scheduled for next week.
A session on Community Resiliency will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Thompson Park Visitor Center in Lincroft.
Two sessions will be held 4 to 6 p.m Thursday, July, one on Community Development and Housing in the Thompson Park Visitor Center in Lincroft, the other a session on Farmland Preservation and Open Space in the second floor Planning Board conference room of the Hall of Records Annex at One East Main Street in Freehold Borough.
“This is an opportunity for residents to be involved in the first countywide comprehensive master plan update in more than 30 years,” Freeholder Serena DiMaso said. “This is an exciting project that is focused on the future of our County – our lifestyle, our growth and our preservation.”
The Monmouth County Planning Board is advancing the development of a new County master plan and looking for community input.
Since the adoption in 1982 of the county’s previous master plan, the Monmouth County Growth Management Guide, the county Planning Board has developed, adopted and supported plans that help set policy for countywide roads, open space and farmland preservation and scenic byways along with regional plans for the county’s Bayshore, coastal, western and panhandle regions.
“When completed, this countywide plan will focus on redevelopment, revitalization and rediscovery of communities throughout the County,” Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry said. “It is important to keep in mind that the master planning process also recognizes that each municipality has its own individual character and identity.”
The county’s master plan will establish contexts within the county, complement elements identified in the Municipal Land Use Law for inclusion in municipal master plans and stand-alone documents which are adopted and revised on their own individual schedules.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to attend the working group sessions and to stay involved in the master plan process. Work on the plan is being done through these group sessions as well as Planning Board meetings. Information about upcoming work group sessions will be posted on the Planning Division section of the County website at www.visitmonmouth .com.
