RED BANK – A borough man was arrested and charged with a variety of narcotics offenses on Thursday, July 25, after an officer saw a group of people who seemed to be using narcotics on South Pearl Street.
Capt. Darren McConnell said in a prepared release that the incident began at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday when patrolman Garrett Falco was on patrol and observed a group of suspicious males, possibly using narcotics. When Falco approached the individuals to investigate further, one of the subjects became uncooperative and attempted to flee the area.
After a physical struggle, Falco was able to take the subject, 26-year-old Charles Wilson into custody, McConnell said.
Wilson was subsequently found to be in possession of various narcotics including marijuana, cocaine, and MDMA (commonly known as “Molly”). Wilson was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession within 500 feet of a public park, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law, police said.
Wilson’s bail was set at $233,500 and he was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
