OCEAN GROVE – A cherished and anticipated tradition of every summer, the Annual Camp Meeting Week began yesterday and continues through Sunday.
Sponsored by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OCGMA), this week-long event offers sun-up to sun-down opportunities for Christian worship and prayer, religious education, recreation and renewal along the Jersey shore.
All activities are open to the public and handicapped-accessible. For more information, call 732-775-0035 or visit www.oceangrove.org
The camp meeting association was founded 145 years ago by those who chose the beautiful seaside setting to create a Christian community committed to providing opportunities for spiritual birth, growth, and renewal, according to OCGMA President Dr. Dale C. Whilden.
“Today, we stand on that same shore to celebrate that wonderful heritage and commit ourselves to continuing that vision,” Whilden said.
Opportunities for worship abound during the week. Bible Hour is held at 9 a.m. daily at The Tabernacle, with periodic services throughout the week at the Beach Pavilion, Thornley Chapel, Youth Temple and Great Auditorium.
