RED BANK – Police arrested a borough man and his mother last week, charging them with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute.
Police arrested Santos Montanez, 35, and his mother, Rodina Preston, 58, on Wednesday, July 2, while officers were executing a narcotics search warrant at the Willow Street residence of the two suspects, according to Chief Darren McConnell.
The two were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, crack; possession with the intent to distribute; possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, because the arrest occurred within 1,000 feet of The Community YMCA facility on the corner of Bridge Avenue and Drs. James Parker Boulevard; possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to the criminal complaint.
Montanez’s bail was set at $49,000, without the option to post a 10 percent bond, while Preston was released on her own recognizance, according to McConnell.
HIGHLANDS – Police arrested Paul J. Young Jr., 28, of Bay Avenue, on Wednesday, July 2, charging him with aggravated assault and possession of weapon. According to the criminal complaint police submitted to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in Freehold, Young allegedly assaulted an unidentified individual with a broom handle, striking the individual on the left arm, and throwing a picture frame causing a laceration.
Young’s bail was set at $52,500 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.
MIDDLETOWN – Police arrested Paul R. French, 24, of Wilson Avenue, in the township’s Port Monmouth section, charging him with being in possession and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, Alprazolam, also marketed as Xanax, without a lawful prescription, according to the criminal complaint police had submitted to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in Freehold.
French’s bail was set at $6,000 with the option to post a 10 percent bond.
