RED BANK – A municipal court judge today dismissed a charge against Patrick Maisto, who was facing a simple assault charge in connection with a brawl at a Red Bank Regional High School baseball game.
This morning Red Bank Municipal Judge William Himelman dismissed the case against Maisto, said Fran Pastonza, court administrator, in what would appear to be the final chapter for the incident.
In April, Maisto, a 49-year-old Rumson resident whose son was playing for the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School team, was charged with hitting an 18-year-old ballplayer at a game at Red Bank Regional in Little Silver during an incident that spiraled into a bench-clearing melee.
In June, a Monmouth County grand jury declined to indict Maisto with the matter being remanded to the Little Silver Municipal Court. It was then transferred to Red Bank’s court in July and scheduled for a trial today.
