MIDDLETOWN – Township police arrested Pietro G. Amato, 38, of Leonardville Road in the Leonardo section, on Wednesday, Aug. 20, and charged him with carjacking, assault, armed robbery and weapons offenses.
Police said Amato allegedly used a handgun to commadiere a taxi, a yellow Toyota Camry,and put the driver “in fear of bodily injury,” according to the criminal complaint.
Amato allegedly struck the driver, inflicting injuries to the driver’s hand and elbow, according to the complaint.
Bail was set at $700,000 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.
