LONG BRANCH — A Virginia man has been charged in connection with the motor vehicle crash last Wednesday that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Monmouth University student and seriously injured another victim.
Joseph W. Stovall, 46, whose current address is given as Nathalie, Va., was charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while his New Jersey driver’s license was revoked, resulting in a death and serious injures, a third and fourth degree crime, respectively, according to the criminal complaint filed with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Stovall, whose address at the time of the crash was given as Long Branch by the prosecutor’s spokesman, allegedly struck a parked vehicle with his pickup truck in the vicinity of Joline and Fifth avenues on Sept. 11.
Marlboro resident Victoria Tropper was killed and Thomas E. Traiano, 49, Cherry Hill, was injured as they were standing in front of the parked vehicle, parked on the road’s shoulder.
Municipal Court Judge George Cieri set Stovall’s bail at $50,000, without a 10 percent bond option, according to the complaint.
