RED BANK – The 4th annual Guinness Oyster Festival will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday in the White Street parking lot.
The street festival is fashioned after the 59-year-old Galway Oyster Festival that celebrates the opening of the oyster season in Ireland.
Attendees can enter the Red Bank fest on White and Monmouth streets.
The rain date is Sept. 29.
The Guinness Oyster Festival is a fundraiser for the John & Jane H. Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center, The Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ and Red Bank RiverCenter and is produced by Rue Events. Admission is $5 for anyone over age 10.
The festival will feature food showcasing Red Bank restaurants and continuous live music on two stages. There also will be family-friendly activities for the kids.
Performers at the Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival will include the Irish rock band Black 47, The Nerds, Brian Kirk And The Jirks, Gedeon Luke, Billy Hector Band, Pat Roddy Band and Mashwork Orange. There will be a mix of Irish music, blues, funk, pop and rock ‘n’ roll plus roaming bagpipers throughout the day.
There will be gallons of Guinness, fresh oysters and food offerings from 25 of Red Bank’s favorite restaurants. Wine and lighter beers will also be available for purchase.
The after-party begins at 7 p.m. at The Dublin House, 30 Monmouth St.
