SANDY HOOK – A bomb threat Wednesday afternoon at the Sandy Hook Child Care Center at the Sandy Hook’s Fort Hancock area led to the evacuation and eventual all-clear from law enforcement authorities later in the day.
The daycare center received a phone call bomb threat at approximately 2 p.m., with center employees immediately evacuating the site and contacting law enforcement and children’s parents and guardians, said Daphne Yun, a National Park Service spokesman.
Members of the National Park Service police force, along with members of the FBI, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, and Highlands and Sea Bright police responded. Authorities used bomb-sniffing dogs and gave the site an all-clear at approximately 4 p.m., according to Yun.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, Yun said.
