A New Irish Tradition in Rumson

The first Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, rain or shine. The parade stages at Victory Park on River Road and will march to East River Road, turning right onto Carton Street and proceeding to the Forrestdale School, where it concludes. Viewers are invited to line the 1-mile route. Parade announcer and Fair Haven resident JoAnn Pileggi, a journalist on Fox 5 and My 9, will announce each group as it passes the grandstand at the Rumson Firehouse at 140 East River Road. Among those participating will be pipe and drum bands, the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Marching Band, local fire and first aid departments, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Irish dance schools, the Marine Corp League 1313, local Boy and Girl Scouts, local legislators and community leaders.
