LONG BRANCH

The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Long Branch and New Brunswick will host its second annual Handbags for Hope, Twilight Cocktail Reception and Handbag Auction from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Palace at Somerset in Somerset.
The event features a silent but lively auction of new and “pre-owned” designer handbags that include Chanel, Fendi, Gucci and Marc Jacobs to name a few. There are also vintage and celebrity handbags.
C. Vivian Stringer, head coach of Rutgers University women’s basketball team, is the honorary chair and the Torregrossa sisters, who are taking the fashion industry by storm with their new fashionforward collection of handbags, are the special guests. Megan Torregrossa has designed a special event tote for the occasion and will also be donating bags from their newest collection. The talented sisters, who grew up in Middletown, have been featured in InStyle, Glamour, Marie Claire, Allure, WWD and People Style Watch.
There also will be a special grand prize raffle of a new Prada handbag valued at $2,900. Tickets are $20 or a book of 6 for $100.
Event tickets are $85 per person; two tickets for $150 and a junior ticket of $65 for those age 30 and younger.
