New England Hot Dog Co. and Rita’s Italian Ice are partnering in Middletown for the Fire ’N Ice fundraiser on Monday, Aug. 6, to benefit the civic, service, and charitable programs and initiatives of the Middletown Lions Club.
Fifteen percent of all sales, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m., will be donated to the club when the customer presents an event flyer. Participants must present the flyer, which can be downloaded and printed from the Middletown Lions Club website, http://mlions.org/Lionsfundraiser.pdf, in order for the organization to receive credit.

The Middletown Lions Club was chartered in 1946 under Lions International and is part of the largest charitable service organization in the world. The 70-member club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month and is engaged in charitable, civic and service initiatives.
OAKHURST

The League of Women Voters of Monmouth will being holding a forum abut human trafficking at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Ocean Township High School.
New Jersey is a hub for human trafficking. There are between 12 and 27 million human-trafficking victims worldwide. These victims are women and men, children and adults, American citizens and people born in other countries, all forced into modern day slavery.
The League of Women Voters of Monmouth County and the League of Women Voters of New Jersey will be discussing the topic at the forum. Attendees will be able to learn more about this horrible crime and the steps that can be taken to stop it.
Speakers include Dorchen Leidholdt of Sanctuary for Families who is a human-trafficking survivor.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The high school is located at 550 West Park Ave., Oakhurst.
