The Martha Mary Guild of St. Mary’s Church on Route 34 and Phalanx Road will be holding its annual clothing and linen sale next month.
The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. There will be a huge selection of men’s, women’s and children’s gently used clothing and accessories at bargain prices in Madonna Hall in the Spiritual Center, behind the church, along with the youth group’s book, CD and DVD sale.
The “boutique,” with new and designer items and linens, will be available in the parish hall, located in the church building.
All proceeds will benefit women and children in need.

MIDDLETOWN
The 19th annual Middletown Retired Staff First Day Luncheon will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Jacques Reception Center on Palmer Avenue.
Retired staff from the Middletown Township Board of Education, including administrators, teachers and support staff, are invited.

The next act in the 2012 Summer Concert Series comes to the great lawn at Croydon Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23. RB Express will entertain with Doo Wop from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s.
The concert will be held at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road. The event will move indoors in the event of inclement weather.
The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Middletown Township Education Association (MTEA) and is hosted by the Middletown Recreation Department and the Middletown Cultural and Arts Council.

Kids of all ages and their parents are invited from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 to the Superhero Family Bash! with Art Kaney, known as the Doodle Dude, at the Middletown Arts Center at 36 Church St.
There will be prizes, a superhero costume contests for kids and families, Manga, anime, comics, video games, ‘toons and tunes.
The event is free but organizers are suggesting a $5 donation to honor the Middletown Arts Center’s fifth anniversary.
Hot dogs and drinks will be available for sale.
The party follows Comix Week Camp, offered from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Aug. 13-17 for youngsters in grades 1-5.
Campers will have fun working on creating their own heroes and villains, action figures, and comic book pages.
The camp fee for arts center members is $120 and $132 for nonmembers.

RED BANK
The Concordia Youth Chorale is holding a gala fundraiser at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Two River Theater, 21 Bridge Ave.
The event includes a pre-concert reception, the concert and a post-concert auction. Proceeds from the gala will provide travel scholarships for singers.
The concert features “El Capitan” by John Philip Sousa and two major choral works.

The Red Bank Car Cruise will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, beginning on Broad Street. Antique cars will park in Red Bank on Broad, Monmouth, and White streets.
The car cruise will benefit a 9-year-old child at the Red Bank Primary School whose medical needs and expenses are extensive. Participating businesses will be donating a portion of sales from those who shop and dine that day.
Those who attend the event will be able to spend the evening shopping, dining and cruising vintage cars – a night the whole family will be sure to enjoy. Also, Keith Franklin, a soulful musician, will create the feel of being back in time cruising the streets.
Frank Woods, a volunteer with the Red Bank Fire Department and code enforcement for the borough has worked tirelessly to make sure the event not only raises money for the child but to ensure it is a huge success. The cars combined with the charity component, will make this an evening that can’t be missed.
