The Shrewsbury Chorale, conducted by Anthony LaGruth, will hold its 2013 Summer Sing at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.
The Summer Sing is an informal event where the group sings a major work for the sheer joy of singing together. All singers are invited to join with the chorale as members work – in English – through Brahms’ German Requiem.
The event will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1475 W. Front St.

The Oceanport First Aid Squad will be hosting the Cole Bros. Circus from Monday through Thursday, Aug. 19-22, in the parking lot at Monmouth Park on Oceanport and Port-Au-Peck avenues.
Performances will be at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. each day.

The Kortney Rose Foundation is holding its annual Kortney’s Challenge 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Monmouth Park.
The event brings the community out to support pediatric brain tumor research and gets everyone moving for a great cause.
The flat 2-mile course caters to children of any age, beginning runners, advanced runners who want to improve their short-distance time and walkers. The top three boys and girls, ages 12 and under, and top three men and women, ages 13 and older, will receive a trophy.
Following the race will be a special Kortney Rose Foundation Day at the Races, in conjunction with the Oceanport Policeman’s Benevolent Association Scholarship Fund. It will be held in the picnic area at Monmouth Park.
Tickets are $20 for Kortney’s Challenge participants and $25 for nonparticipants, and free for children under age 12. Tickets entitle the holder entry into the picnic area, food and beverages, a race program and full day of horseracing. Additional information is available at www.the kortneyrosefoundation.org.
