The Silverball Museum, a classic pinball arcade on the boardwalk, will host the 2nd Annual Winter Gala Play for Autism from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 8.
The special event will feature a grand buffet and seafood bar, live music by Cold Roses, cocktails and a silent auction, including a pinball machine.
Winter Gala tickets are $75 online or $100 at the door.

ASBURY PARK
The Monmouth County Democratic Women’s Caucus will celebrate Women Making History in New Jersey on Monday, March 24, at the Watermark, 800 Ocean Ave.
The event will highlight women’s contributions to contemporary New Jersey society and recognize individuals who have worked to build the state from its birth to present day. Guest speakers include Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, D- Bergen, 1199 SEIU Executive Vice President Milly Silva, and Clinton Mayor Janice Kovach.
“Last year’s event at the Watermark was very successful,” said Retha Onitiri, cochair of Democratic women’s caucus, “and we anticipate that attendance will double this year as membership continues to grow.”
Although the caucus is celebrating women, we encourage all members to bring their significant other to enjoy our guest speakers, music, hors d’oeuvres and informative program. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

MONMOUTH BEACH
The Art Society of Monmouth County will be sponsoring a lecture and demonstration at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, by artist Elizabeth (Lizzi) Schippert lecture on the topic of gilding.
She will reveal the unique effects/application of metal foil gilding used on canvas and other surfaces. Attendees will see and learn about this unusual technique.
In addition to gilding, Schippert is a notable artist in collage, lithography, intaglio, oils and watercolor.
Prior to the lecture, a meeting of the society will be held at 10 a.m.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center on Ocean Avenue at Seacrest Road.
LITTLE SILVER
The Little Silver Garden Club invites the public to a presentation on Thursday, March 13, by Amanda Brockwell, the farmland preservation program coordinator for Monmouth County and staff member of the county Agricultural Development Board.
Brockwell will focus on the purpose and goals of the Agricultural Development Board as well as provide an overview of agricultural preservation, the Right to Farm Act, and agricultural stewardship issues related to preserved farms in Monmouth County.
The meeting begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Little Silver Women’s Club on Church Street.
In addition to the featured speaker, the meeting will include floral and horticultural design competitions as well as refreshments and fellowship.

FREEHOLD
Monmouth County Historical Association invites the public to enjoy Open Hearth Open House at the Covenhoven House from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, March 8 and March 30 at the house, 150 W. Main St.
Visitors will be able to observe 18th-century style cooking over a blazing open hearth. Visitors will see food being made from authentic “receipts” provided by the hearth cook, Glenn May.
The open-hearth program will feature cream toast, gingerbread with orange glaze, apple pie from dried apples, beef vegetable soup, raspberry pomegranate tea and ginger snaps. As visitors take a guided tour of the house, stories of families living the Colonial life will be told. The tour will include a demonstration of how tea was served in the 18th century.
Guided tours of the preserved landmark house, built in 1752 for William and Elizabeth Covenhoven, will be provided. The Covenhoven House later served as headquarters for British General Sir Henry Clinton before the Battle of Monmouth in June of 1778.
Admission is free. Parking is available at Grace Lutheran Church at the corner of West Main Street and Business Route 33.
Throughout the school year, the Open Hearth Cooking educational program, sponsored by PNC Foundation, offers children the opportunity to learn about history through the sights, sounds and smells of an 18th century kitchen. Pilgrim Baptist Church of Red Bank will host its 24th Annual Community Men’s Breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 15 at the 172 Shrewsbury Ave. church.
This community outreach initiative is sponsored by the Men’s Ministry of Pilgrim and will feature an inspirational message and music by Pastor Carl Dixon and the Men’s Choir of the Abundant Grace & Truth Church of Teaneck.
