The Affordable Housing Alliance will present a program to help individuals impacted by Super Storm Sandy at its new Housing Recovery Resource Center, located at 171 First Ave.
Restoring Credit After Sandy will be presented from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15.
The seminar will cover:
- Using credit responsibly
- How to read a credit report
- Credit scoring and how to obtain a free credit score
- Restoring credit
- Alternative credit
- Co-signing for credit
- Debt-to-Income and other Ratios
Space is limited. There is no charge to attend but registration is required.

COLTS NECK
The annual Colts Neck Country Fair will be Thursday through Sunday, July 10-13, at the township’s Bucks Mill Recreation Area at Bucks Mill Road and Freemont Lane.
The fair will feature live entertainment, rides, food and refreshments. A fireworks display is scheduled for about 10 p.m. Thursday, July 10.
Hours are: 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12 and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13.
Admission is $5 per person.
The Colts Neck Country Fair is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers with the purpose of providing a family-friendly environment that benefits the community and the many organizations that support it.
Since 2004 the fair has distributed more than $65,000 to local groups and many of those groups have raised additional funds through the operation of games and wheels, as well as selling food and beverages.
Among the groups the fair has supported are the Colts Neck Volunteer Fire and First Aid departments, local Girl and Boy Scouts, local church groups, animal rescue organizations, high school band and chorus, the sports foundation, historical society, Christian Brothers Academy, Red Bank Catholic High School and Lions Club.

FAIR HAVEN
River Road Books, 759 River Road, will host author Megan Abbott at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, as she shares her latest work, “The Fever,” with her many fans.
Called “a hot new entrant in the ‘Is it the next ‘Gone Girl’ sweepstakes” by the New York Times, Abbott finds her work a top pick for many national summer reading lists.
“The Fever” borrows from recent headlines to craft a creepy, twisting tale, perfect for a summer bedside stack.
Author Alison Gaylin will join Abbott to share her book, “Stay With Me.” Gaylin has created multilayered investigator Brenna Spector, a missing persons private investigator afflicted with hyperthymestic syndrome, a rare disorder that enables her to remember every moment of every day of her life.

The 2014 Summer Gala for Purr’n Pooch Pet Resorts will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club at the foot of Oneida Avenue.
The event, which will benefit the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals will include a clambake menu, 50/50 cash drawings, silent auctions, wine and beer, desserts and more.
Tickets ate $100 per person.

RUMSON
Aslan Youth Ministries is hosting its 15th Annual Island Nights on Saturday, July 26, at the Rumson Country Club.
Island Nights is the summer’s best party, and it benefits the urban children Aslan serves in Asbury Park, Long Branch and the greater Red Bank area.
Island Nights 2014 highlights the beautiful Greek island of Santorini and will feature Greek cuisine, Greek dancers and live, silent and chance auctions. The event’s signature feature is sunset sailing on the Shrewsbury River, provided by the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club.
Aslan Youth Ministries has for 39 years provided life-transforming tutoring, life-skills classes, mentoring and other year-round activities for at risk children in Monmouth County. Thousands of children’s lives and their families’ lives have benefited from the work of Aslan.
Most Aslan students graduate from high school, and many have gone on to successful careers in the military, as engineers, nurses and other professions.
