A monthly support group, Supporting Parents of Special Needs Children, will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6.
The group will address the emotional needs of parents and caregivers of children with a variety of special needs.
The session will be facilitated by Andrew Guage, family partner, Bayshore Family Success Center. The center is operated by The Community YMCA.

FAIR HAVEN
Eileen Moon will be speaking about her new book “Legendary Locals of Red Bank” at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at River Road Books.
The book discusses adventurers and entrepreneurs, writers, artists, retailers and rock stars and their roles in making Red Bank a legendary town on the Navesink.

LINCROFT
St. Leo the Great School PTA is hosting its spring gala “A Shore Thing” from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club, 20 Shore Oaks Drive, Farmingdale.
The gala is an annual fundraising event to help provide tuition relief as well as continued support of the school’s academic needs. In addition, it helps make significant improvements in the school’s academic environment, specifically in math, science, and technology.
The evening will feature silent auction items that will include grade-level art auction pieces with each grade contributing one-of-a-kind items and more than 150 raffle baskets with prizes such as Broadway tickets, various electronics, and gift cards donated by area restaurants and businesses.
A live auction will include more than 30 school-related items, as well as vacations and unique experiences. A grand prize raffle winner will take home a jewelry item donated by Neves Jewelers. Lee and Stacey Neves are school parents and parishioners at St. Leo the Great.

LITTLE SILVER
Little Silver Environmental Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Women’s Club, 111 Church St.
A shredding truck, electronics recycling, used clothing collection, composting workshop, Master Gardener talk, local “green” display tables and more will be available.
Rain barrels and composting bins will be available for purchase; some need to be preordered. Details will be available at www.littlesilver.org.
RED BANK
Philip Murphy of Middletown, who is a former U.S. ambassador to Germany, will speak from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the Two River Theater Company, 21 Bridge Ave.
His subject will be “Germany, Europe and the USA: Where do we go from here?” Among the topics the talk will cover are economic matters on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, security challenges, the NSA fallout and the new potential for a German-American relationship. A Q-and-A period with refreshments will follow the talk.
The suggested donation for the event, sponsored by the German School of Monmouth County, is $10 per adult.
