George Armistead, field guide and naturalist, will present “Ornithology: The Birds and the Birds and the Bees” at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Monmouth County Audubon Society at the Church of the Nativity on Ridge Road.
The public is welcome; admission is free.
There are 10,000 species of birds in the world, and some of them have some pretty odd and unusual breeding strategies. Armistead has birded on seven continents on his own and as a leader for Field Guides, Inc. He has witnessed some pretty unusual bird behavior. His description of things that birds do in order to leave more little birds on the planet is sure to be informative as well as entertaining.
Armistead is a lifelong birder and since April 2012 has been the events coordinator for the American Birding Association. Based in Philadelphia, he is an associate at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia and spends much of his free time birding the coast between Cape May and Cape Hatteras, N.C.

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School’s hockey team is holding a fundraiser from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the at the Knights of Columbus in Fair Haven.
Live entertainment will be provided by The Haven.
The donation is $40 per person. There will be a cash bar.

The spring issue of the park system’s program directory for these and other upcoming arts and crafts, nature, recreation and sports programs will be available on Friday, Feb. 7, in most county parks.
The program directory lists all park system special events and programs offered during March, April and May.

MIDDLETOWN
The Teddy Bear Tea, presented by The Friends of The Monmouth Museum, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at The Navesink Country Club.
The event will feature an afternoon tea, singing and dancing, raffle, party favors and a teddy bear parade led by our very own teddy bear. The Teddy Bear Tea also will feature Miss Sherri and her charismatic showmanship.
Tickets for museum members are $35 for adults and $25 for children and for non-menbers, $40 for adults and $30 for children.

SHREWSBURY
Taxpayers seeking help with their income tax returns can find help at the Monmouth County Library.
AARP Tax Aide program volunteers will be on hand at the Eastern Branch Library, 1001 Route 35, now through April 15. The service is available for low- and middle-income taxpayers with simple returns.
Those interested may call the library for tax prep hours at 732-683-8980.
Preparations will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Participants do not have to be a senior citizen to have their tax return done by the AARP. Those taking part should bring last year’s tax returns with them.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older.
