ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – After three burglaries on the east side of town during the past week, Borough Chief Jerry Vasto is cautioning residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to report suspicious persons and vehicles to the police.
On Saturday, Feb. 12,police said, a house on Hudson Avenue between Asbury Avenue & East Washington Avenue was entered via an unlocked back door. On the same day, a home on Asbury Avenue between Navesink Avenue and Grand Avenue was burglarized. Suspects in that burglary broke a rear glass door to enter the home. Both of these incidents occurred in the late morning or early afternoon.
According to Vasto, a home on Central Avenue between East Garfield and Asbury Avenues was entered on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 16 via an unlocked rear door.
Vasto is asking residents to exercise extra vigilance in their homes and neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity immediately.
He advises citizens who discover that they are the victims of a burglary not to touch or disturb anything so that officers may retrieve evidence.
Police are also requesting that anyone who has information related to last week’s burglaries get in touch with the Atlantic Highlands Police Department. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
