AH Yacht Club to Hold Art Show, Sale Nov. 16

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club, (AHYC), is hosting an Art Show and Sale from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at AHYC on the second floor of Shore Casino at 6 Simon Lake Drive.
The show will feature original artwork to for sale by local and regional artists who will be in attendance. Admission is free.
Included in the show will be oil, watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, jewelry, photography, ceramics and much more. Complimentary light hors d’oeuvres will be served and the bar will be available.
“This show is alive, fun and vibrant,” said Sharon Herbst, chairman of the event.
Proceeds from a silent auction will be donated to 180 Turning Lives Around. The Junior Sailors from the Atlantic Highlands Sailing Education Program will be selling baked goods to raise money for scholarships.
More than 20 established and emerging artists will be there, including featured artists;:

  •  Mike Quon, a graphic fine artist and painter from Fair Haven, best known for his colorful, bold brushstroke style and whimsical depictions of favorite places, everyday objects and architecture.
  • Megan Heath Gilhool, a self-taught artist who has been painting and working with colors since childhood. She is known for her colorful painted murals in restaurants, bars, show houses, private homes and the public library.
  • Art Petrosemolo, a photo journalist who frequently contributes to ***ITALThe Two River Times,***END enjoys photographing action-based activities. An avid sailor, he specializes in nautical photography as well as thoroughbred and standardbred racing and has been the chief photographer for regional, national and international regattas.
  • Michael Scherfen, a watercolor artist, has paintings ranging from portraits to landscapes and seascapes. He draws his inspiration from the colors and textures that surround him, from the face of a colorful character to the scales of a resting boa.
  • Linne A. Grant began her art studies with Lorraine Niemela and continues with other local artists. She is a detailed-oriented watercolorist, whose main theme is portraying older buildings with character in Monmouth County.
  • Concetta E. Volpe is an avid en plein air painter where she believes in capturing the atmospheric light and the true changing colors of nature.  She is known for her illustrious colors on her palette.
