Alfonso A. Alfano, 78, of Middletown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, May 11 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Al was born on November 15, 1938 in New York, New York, and was raised in Norwood. He graduated from Tenafly High School in 1956 and soon thereafter began working at Citibank. He was employed by Citibank for the next 43 years in various positions and retired in 2000 as vice president. Al and his wife Sheila moved to Middletown in 1969 to raise their family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Frances Alfano; and his sister, Gertrude Larkin. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, for 54 wonderful years. He is the devoted father to his four children and their spouses: Marifrances and Tom Burton, Michael and Denise Alfano, Kathleen and Matt Flemming and Suzanne and Bob Corcoran. He is survived by his loving sister, Ann Marie Russo, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived and blessed with nine grandchildren: Thomas, Caitlin, Alison, Jonathan, Alex, Ryan, Danny, Kelly and Drew. Al was very generous and supported many organizations.
