James Allocco, 82, of Holmdel, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, March 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Known to everyone as Jimmy or Uncle Jimmy, he was a highly admired and widely esteemed native resident of the Township of Holmdel.

Jimmy was a 1952 graduate of Keyport High School. He joined the Holmdel Public Works Department in 1955 and took great pride in the excellent condition of Holmdel roads and the Township’s equipment until his retirement as Superintendent on June 30, 1995.

Jimmy was a lifelong farmer and owner of Allocco’s Farm Market, Holmdel. He loved winemaking and canning tomatoes and had a smile for everyone he met. He was a member of the Holmdel Kiwanis Club and was the recipient of the George F. Hixon Award. A member of the Farmers and Gardeners Labor Association, The New Jersey Farm Bureau and The Holmdel Half Century Club.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mollie and Jerry Allocco; and his brothers, Dominick and Charles Allocco. Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Rose Valente Allocco; their loving children, Maria Allocco of Holmdel and Jerry and his wife Regina Allocco of Holmdel; two grandsons, James and Alex Allocco; a brother, Joseph Allocco and his wife Josephine of Holmdel; his sisters, Martha Cevasco and her husband Louis of Aberdeen and Connie Mioduszewski of Hazlet; many cousins, nieces, nephews; and other loving relatives and many dear friends.
