RED BANK  – The American Legion Post 168 announced its gift of $2,000 to Operation Beachhead, a unique 501c/3 nonprofit organization that provides veterans, troops, and the disabled opportunities for adaptive sport/recreational activities.
Founded in 2011 by Vietnam veteran Michael Ricci, Operation Beachhead originally focused its efforts on helping disabled veterans “storm the surf.” Activities provided along the Jersey Shore included surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking and more. Today, Operation Beachhead has expanded its program to include winter sports. In addition, Operation Beachhead now welcomes and encourages participation not only from disabled veterans but also from all active duty troops and disabled civilians.
Operation Beachhead is entirely supported by donations and counts more than 200 people in its volunteer base.
Upcoming Operation Beachhead Days are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 6, at North Beach in Sea Girt.
Additional information about Operation Beachhead is available by visiting visit www.opbeachhead.org.
The American Legion Post 168 of Red Bank continues to promote the overall mission of the American Legion by supporting wholesome programs that benefit veterans, active service members, and communities.
