FAIR HAVEN –The Fair Haven PTA has announced that Saturday, Sept. 27 is the date for the annual Harvest Fest.
The annual fall extravaganza will take place on the grounds of Knollwood School on Hance Road. All are encouraged to attend.
Hundreds of children and parents anticipate this family event each year.
Event chair Christine Hayden and her team are coordinating the day, featuring many new games and events, including miniature golf and an Xbox game trailer.    Harvest Fest wouldn’t be complete without the petting zoo, the bounce house, the very popular pumpkin decorating contest and an apple pie bake-off. Special faculty and PTA judges judge pies; the entry fee is $3 each. Admission to the event is free.
Homemade baked goods and other carnival style treats are also offered throughout the day. Additional information is available by contacting Hayden at cbd927@yahoo.com.
Once a small event held at the Fair Haven Firehouse, Harvest Fest has grown to be a Fair Haven tradition, which takes hundreds of volunteers to make happen.
Event sponsors are thanked in a very public way, with large scarecrows advertising their business or family support hung along Fair Haven’s main thoroughfare.  “Support from numerous local businesses, and families is crucial to the success of this event,” says past PTA President Bennett Coleman. “We appreciate the many contributions from our local community.”
Last year, the event raised more than $20,000 to support the PTA’s programs in support of Fair Haven’s public schools.
