Arianna Huffington to Speak at Power of Pink Lunch

LONG BRANCH – The Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center will host this year’s 19th Annual Power of Pink Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Old Oaks, the private estate of Claire and Woody Knopf in Rumson.
This year’s guest speaker will be the founder of Huffington Post Media Group, Arianna Huffington. The Power of Pink Luncheon, an event that benefits the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center, will honor Gregory A. Greco, M.D., chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery and general surgery clerkship director at Monmouth Medical Center and member of the Monmouth Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Huffington is the chair, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, a nationally syndicated columnist and author of 14 books. In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most widely read, linked to, and frequently-cited media brands on the Internet. In 2012, the site won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. In 2013, Huffington was named to the Forbes Most Powerful Women list. In 2006, and again in 2011, she was named to the Time 100, Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Her most recent book, “Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder,” was published by Crown in March 2014 and debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller list.
Greco, an accomplished physician, is board certified in both plastic surgery and general surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He currently serves as president of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons. In addition to his position as chairman of the division of plastic surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, Greco holds academic appointments at Drexel University School of Medicine and Saint George’s University School of Medicine. He has been involved in medical student and resident education throughout his career, for which he has received several awards, including the Golden Apple Award and the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching from Drexel University. Additionally, he has been voted among the “Best Doctors in America” by his peers as well as one of “America’s Top Surgeons” and one of the “Top Doctors in NJ.”
Greco is a graduate of Adelphi University and attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a five-year general surgery training at Monmouth Medical Center and a three-year plastic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The Power of Pink Luncheon brings men and women together to raise funds and enhance the quality of care delivered to cancer patients at Monmouth Medical Center. Proceeds from the event have contributed to a wide range of services and programs offered through the Leon Hess Cancer Center. This year’s 19th annual luncheon proceeds will fund the Patient Infusion Unit.
