Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson directs August Wilson’s Jitney running through Feb. 19 at the Two River Theater, 21 Bridge Ave., Red Bank.

Jitney is set in 1977 Pittsburgh in a makeshift storefront depot for gypsy cab drivers. The men share stories and gossip, two young lovers fight for their future, and the station owner confronts his long-estranged son.
“August Wilson is one of the world’s most celebrated playwrights. This is a director’s dream, to helm a production filled with such a stellar cast of theater veterans and distinguished Broadway actors,” says Santiago-Hudson, who won a Tony for his performance in Wilson’s Seven Guitars and made his directorial debut with a production of Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean for McCarter Theatre, Princeton.
