Edward A Balog, 92, of North Carolina and formerly of Leonardo, died on Monday, May 8 at his home in Troy, North Carolina. Mr. Balog was born in Bayonne, and lived in Carteret, Lakewood, and Leonardo before moving to Troy, North Carolina, several years ago. He served his country honorably in the Army during World War II. He was employed by FMC, Carteret, as a plant maintenance engineer until his retirement some years ago.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Vincent T. Lombardi Council and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. He was also a member of the Leisure Village First Aid Squad.

His joys in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as woodworking, making bird houses and pieces of furniture.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris; and a beloved son-in-law, Giovanni Massaglia. He is survived by his beloved children, Edward Jr. of Wilmington Delaware, Susan Masaglia of Mullica Hill, Patricia and her life partner, Krystal Kimrey of Troy, North Carolina, and Robert and his wife Kathleen of Leonardo; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
