Donald F. Barbante, 79, of Lincroft, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 10 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Donald was born on August 11, 1936 in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he grew up. On November 10, 1962, he married his wife, Maureen (Foran) Barbante, and they moved to Staten Island, N.Y., to raise their family. In 2002, they settled in Lincroft. Before retiring, Donald worked as a brokerage manager for E.F. Hutton Company in New York. He was also a proud United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Reba (MacDonald) Barbante; and his brother, Edward Barbante. Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Maureen (Foran) Barbante; his loving children, Carolyn McAteer and her husband John of Lincroft, Joan Barbante of Holmdel and Donna Coffey and her husband Thomas of Lincroft; his dear sister, Edith Mills and her husband Bob; his cherished grandchildren, Richard Meeks, Brian McAteer, Jacqueline Brown, Steven McAteer, Thomas Coffey, Christopher Coffey and Gianna Barbante; and two adored great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet. In respect of Donald’s wishes, he will be privately cremated. Entombment of Donald’s cremated remains will be held at later date at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown.
