Barnabas Health Group Welcomes Breast Surgeon

LONG BRANCH – Barnabas Health Medical Group recently announced the addition of fellowship-trained breast surgeon Sumy H. Chang, M.D., FACS, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in breast health, to its network of primary and specialty care physicians.
Chang is affiliated with Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Prior to joining Barnabas Health Medical Group, Chang worked as a breast surgical oncologist in a multispecialty group practice in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She has collaborated with other physicians to present numerous research studies on breast cancer and related issues, including a presentation at the American Society of Breast Disease Annual Symposium entitled “How Breast Cancer Mode of Presentation Affects Stage at Diagnosis: Are 40-50 year olds different?” for which she received The Breast Journal Award.
Chang earned her medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, N.Y. She completed a residency in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital and a breast surgery fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center/St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City.
She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Surgical Society of Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
