WEST ORANGE – All three Barnabas Health acute care hospitals in the Southern Region have been awarded straight “A’s” for hospital safety by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization.
The Leapfrog Group, which rates hospitals and medical centers nationwide, gave an “A” – the highest Hospital Safety Score possible – to Community Medical Center, Kimball Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center. More than 2,514 hospitals, including New Jersey’s 71 hospitals, were graded.
The Hospital Safety Score uses a rating scale from A to F based on 26 categories of hospital safety data. The data measured included preventing falls and infections, preventing accidents, injuries and medication errors, providing proper staffing, and other categories. The scores were compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and are designed to give the public information they can use to make health care decisions.
