Margaret Barry, age 87, formerly of Red Bank, Middletown and Old Bridge, passed away at the Gardens at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls April 19. Born in Renfrew, Scotland in 1931, she and her family came to the United States when she was five years old. She was a graduate of Matawan High School. On June 1, 1952 she married William (Bill) Barry and was his beloved wife for 58 years until the time of his passing in 2010.
Margaret worked as a secretary for General Cable in Perth Amboy and the Hess Corporation in Woodbridge where she met lifelong friends. Her second career was in real estate at Caldwell Banker in Middletown. While there, she loved going on Tuesday Open House tours with her dear friends. Margaret was a member of Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank. After moving to Seabrook Village, she joined the Tower Hill Church Hope Circle and enjoyed the friendship and support of the group.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Margaret Falkovic and husband Frank of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Christine Hewitt and husband Frank of Rumson; brothers and sisters-in-law David Kennovin (Mary Ann), Colin Kennovin (Marsha); Barbara Kennovin and Terry Kennovin and many nieces and nephews. Margaret’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and being “MomMom” to her six loving grandchildren: William, Andrew, Allison and Jack Hewitt and Daniel and Sarah Falkovic. She will be deeply missed.
Margaret is predeceased by her husband Bill; parents Neil and Margaret Kennovin; sister Flora Noglows; and brothers John Kennovin, Neil Kennovin and James Kennovin.
Margaret’s family is grateful for the compassion and skilled assistance provided by the caring staff at the Gardens at Seabrook and offer special thanks to caregivers Joan and Lily for bringing so much love and laughter to Margaret’s days. They would also like to thank Embracing Hospice Care for the care and support they provided to Margaret and her family in her final months.
