Belford Man Dies from Drowning at Middletown Beach

MIDDLETOWN — A Belford man died Thursday afternoon as the result of drowning in the Raritan Bay at Ideal Beach.
Charles Henshaw, 46, was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, township police said.
Police were called to Ideal Beach at 1:47 p.m. Thursday on the report of a possible drowning. Upon arrival Lt. William Brunt and Cpl. Robert McNair located Henshaw in the water and pulled him to shore.
Henshaw was treated at the scene by the Monoc Paramedics and the Port Monmouth First Aid Squad and was transported to Riverview Medical Center.
Ideal Beach is located on Bayside Parkway in the north section of Middletown.
