The race committees of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club and the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club will be holding on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2-3, the 30th annual Blue Water Regatta on Sandy Hook Bay.
The regatta has become one of the most successful and well attended regattas on the Bayshore with 46 sailboats last year  –from beach cats to 43 foot mono-hull racing in six classes over two days of fierce competition.
The Blue Water Regatta is a qualifier for the Performance Handicap Racing Formula – Mid Atlantic (PHRF-MA) Championship and is part of the Parkway Series for the J/24 One Design Fleet.
Other One Design Divisions may include J/105s and J/109s. There will be a Cruising Class as well as PHRF Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Divisions.
All divisions will receive trophies.
After the racing on Saturday, there will be a beach party at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club, catered by Gianni’s Italian Specialty Foods, and an awards ceremony at the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club, located above the Shore Casino, after the final races on Sunday.
Sponsors of the regatta include, Sea Tow, Lockwood Boat Works, Annapolis Performance Sailing, Eyes on First Ave and Performance Handicap Racing Formula – Mid Atlantic.
The event draws hundreds of sailors from out of town who patronize the restaurants, delis and marine supply stores of Atlantic Highlands and environs.
