Edith Curtis Borden, 61, of Rumson, passed away in her home on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Born on March 9, 1954, she was predeceased by her father, William Howard Borden; her mother, Mary Bruno Borden; and her niece, Leah Lorenza Acuna. Edith is survived by her sister, Vanna Borden Acuna; her nephew, Jason William Acuna; and her niece, Elena Mary Acuna.
Edith’s many interests included music, politics, animal care, cooking and world cultures. She spent years volunteering for the Monmouth County SPCA, Eatontown, and for the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, Princeton. Several local choirs and theater groups were blessed with her beautiful soprano voice.
Due to Edith’s longtime enjoyment of Jon Stewart’s satirical news program and her life-long commitment to the protection of and caring for animals, we ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made on line at www.farmsanctuary.org. Please direct the donations in Edith’s memory to Jon and Tracey Stewart’s Farm Sanctuary opening this year in Middletown or feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.
A service honoring Edith’s memory will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1475 West Front Street, Lincroft. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the ceremony at the same location. Please visit Edith’s memorial website at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com
